About

Bio

I’m a PhD student in Liverpool with interest in virology, infectious disease and public health. I am taking a scientific outlook to explore how HIV treatment can be simplified.  I plan to  explore and research the processes and scientific mechanisms underlying the world of microbes, especially, viruses. Check out the post for an update on my lab work progress and how I got through some of the struggles of this research degree.

What I Do

My research aims to understand the virological and pharmacological outcomes of HIV treatment simplification in HIV patients on a Second-line HIV regimen with suppressed viral load in the first study of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa. My research uses molecular biology, virology,  genetics, and pharmacological technologies to assess patient outcomes when patients switch from a second-line HIV regimen to Darunavir/ritonavir-boosted protease inhibitor monotherapy. My research is generously supported by funding from industry and aims to have a global impact in providing non-existent data to drive policy-making towards cheaper, sustainable and equally efficacious HIV treatment regimens.

Mission

The mission of this study is to have a better understanding of the transmission and effects of viruses on the human population. I will use the data collected to develop strategies and treatments aimed at protecting against, preventing, and treating virus infections. The information obtained will help identify potential targets for vaccine and drug development. Additionally, I will utilize this data to inform public health policies and provide guidance to healthcare providers and the public on the best practices for preventing and controlling virus infections. Ultimately, my mission is to reduce the spread and impact of viruses on the global population.

Vision

The vision for studying viruses is to understand and develop strategies to prevent and treat them. The study will use the latest technologies and research methods to identify and analyze viruses, develop preventative treatments, and develop treatments to stop the spread of infection. I will collaborate with the best medical and scientific minds to ensure that our findings are accurate and up-to-date. I strive to create a healthier world by improving the understanding and treatment of viruses. My commitment to research and development will lead to better and more effective treatments for the viruses we study.
